160 years of living stories – ZOO Wrocław invites you. Your starting point? The car park at Centennial Hall.

Imagine a place where an African elephant waves its trunk at a child, and underwater tunnels pull you into a world of sharks and rays like a scene from an adventure film. A place where history, science, and nature intertwine like fingerprints – uniquely. This isn’t the beginning of a novel. It’s an invitation to reality.

In 2025, ZOO Wrocław – the oldest zoological garden in Poland and one of the most visited in Europe – celebrates its 160th anniversary. And you can be part of that story.

Everything has changed in 160 years… except the wonder.

It all began in 1865. The Austro-Hungarian Empire still stood, and Wrocław was known as Breslau. Since then, the zoo has lived through wars, collapse, and triumph. Today – in the heart of a dynamic city – it’s one of the most modern nature conservation facilities in the world.

In July 2025, a three-day celebration awaits – July 10, 11, and 12. It’s more than a birthday – it’s a tribute to nature, memory, and the future. Expect archival films, workshops, exhibitions, and guided walks where keepers share never-before-heard stories from behind the scenes.

Why is ZOO Wrocław more than just an attraction?

It’s home to over 10,000 animals representing more than 1,100 species – the largest in Poland.

It features the Afrykarium – a one-of-a-kind complex that takes you beneath the Red Sea and Congo River.

It offers 33 hectares of greenery, bridges, educational trails, and discoveries.

It actively supports conservation: ZOO Wrocław participates in dozens of endangered species programs, and the DODO Foundation supports efforts in the wild.
