It has been 30 years since the theatrical premiere of Disney and Pixar’s groundbreaking film “Toy Story.” The first feature-length computer-animated film in cinema history revealed the secret world of toys, and millions of viewers around the globe fell in love with Sheriff Woody, space ranger Buzz Lightyear, and their friends from Andy’s room. Despite a rocky start, Woody and Buzz became friends, and their relationship has grown into one of the most iconic friendships on the big screen.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of “Toy Story,” Disney and Wrocław’s Centennial Hall have created a spectacular new show that brings back the most beautiful friendships from Pixar Animation Studio films. For more than three decades, Pixar has been synonymous with top-quality animation, blending original ideas, powerful emotions, and cutting-edge technology.

Summer of Friendship

“Pixar: Summer of Friendship” is a show where Pixar’s most famous stories come alive through music, dancing water, colorful lights, and dazzling projections. Characters from almost the entire Pixar filmography will appear – from “Toy Story” through “Monsters, Inc.,” “Up,” and “Inside Out” to “Turning Red” and the studio’s latest feature – “Elio.” Of course, the fan favorites from “Cars” will be there too: Lightning McQueen and Mater. The show features compositions by Oscar® winners Randy Newman and Michael Giacchino, as well as iconic songs, including the unforgettable “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” performed by Stanisław Soyka. The role of narrator is played by actress Maria Sobocińska, who has voiced Pixar characters such as Ember in “Elemental” and Olga Solis in “Elio.”

Meet us at the Pergola

The grand premiere of “Pixar: Summer of Friendship” took place on July 30 (Wednesday) at 9:40 PM at Wrocław’s Pergola, part of the Hala Stulecia complex. After the premiere, a Pixar Weekend followed – on August 1, 2, and 3, with shows also at 9:40 PM. The production has since become a permanent feature of the Multimedia Fountain program – running every Friday evening until the end of the season (in August at 9:40 PM, and in September and October at 9:00 PM). A detailed and always up-to-date schedule of Multimedia Fountain shows can be found at halastulecia.pl.

112 years of the best chillout in Wrocław

The Multimedia Fountain is located at the Pergola – an integral part of the Centennial Hall complex, one of 17 Polish sites inscribed on the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage List. Designed by Hans Poelzig, the Pergola was created in 1913 as a recreational space around the monumental Hala Stulecia designed by Max Berg. For decades, it has been the backdrop for the city’s most important open-air events, and to this day remains a favorite spot for relaxation among Wrocław’s residents.

In 2009, one of the largest multimedia fountains in the world was launched at the Pergola. Covering almost 1 hectare, it operates hundreds of water jets, geysers, and lights, turning the Pergola into a stage for a new kind of outdoor spectacle: shows that combine audiovisual art, light, music, and dance.

From May to October, daily daytime and evening shows take place here, while weekends bring true magic. Water dances to the rhythm of music, and light tells beautiful, captivating stories. No tickets, no barriers, for everyone – and the same goes for “Pixar: Summer of Friendship.”

See you at the Pergola!
